Speech runs through your browser’s built-in engine, so the voice list comes from your operating system. Windows, macOS, Android and iOS each ship different sets, and some install extra voices with additional language packs. The same page therefore offers different options depending on where you open it.
Not directly — the browser speech API plays audio rather than exposing a file to save. For a downloadable recording you would need a system audio recorder, or a cloud text-to-speech service that returns an MP3. The trade-off is that this approach is instant, free, and never sends your text to us.
