Compression, resizing and format conversion run on our own sharp/libvips engine, because it produces noticeably better results than a browser can — your image is uploaded over an encrypted connection, processed, and deleted straight after. A few tools (Colour Palette Extractor, Meme Generator, Image to Text) run entirely in your browser and upload nothing. AI tools send your image to an AI service, which never uses it for training. Every tool page states which of the three applies before you upload anything.
JPG, PNG, WebP and AVIF work across the tools, and many also accept GIF and HEIC. The AI Background Remover works best with JPG and PNG. For output you can choose JPG, PNG, WebP or AVIF — WebP and AVIF give the smallest files.
