Give it a clean, high-contrast image: crop tightly to the text, straighten anything skewed, and prefer a sharp screenshot over a photo of a screen. Small or blurry text is the main failure mode. Dark text on a plain light background is recognised far more reliably than text over a busy image.
Not well. The engine is trained for printed type, so neat block capitals sometimes work while cursive rarely does. It also struggles with decorative fonts, heavy stylisation and text at an angle. For printed documents, receipts, slides and screenshots it is reliable.
